A total of 1010 students graduated at the Durban University of Technology’s Spring Graduation Ceremonies which took place on Thursday, 1 September 2016.
An Honorary Doctorate in Management Sciences was awarded to women empowerment luminary, Ms. Gloria T. Serobe, in recognition of her outstanding contribution towards creating social and economic change and for the empowerment and development of women, particularly those in rural areas.
The Faculty of Accounting and Informatics had a total of 194 graduates, 92 graduates from the Faculty of Applied Sciences, 14 graduates from the Faculty of Arts and Design, 418 graduates from the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, 34 graduates from the Faculty of Health Sciences and 258 graduates from the Faculty of Management Sciences.
A total of 639 students received their National Diplomas, 296 students received their Bachelor of Technology degrees, 58 students their Master’s degrees, 14 students their Doctorate degrees, 1 student their Bachelor of Education degree and 2 students their Bachelor of Technology degrees (four year).
In terms of race, 795 Black, 169 Indian, 37 White and 9 Coloured students graduated.
